Code of Conduct

BSides Exeter is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for everyone involved, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, nationality, or other defining characteristics.

Expected Behaviour

All attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers at BSides Exeter are required to abide by the following code of conduct:

  • Respect and Inclusivity: Treat all individuals with respect and consideration. Be welcoming, open-minded, and inclusive. Encourage diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Harassment-Free Environment: Harassment and offensive behaviour are not tolerated. This includes but is not limited to, verbal comments, offensive imagery, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwanted photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, and unwelcome physical contact.
  • Professionalism: Conduct yourself in a professional manner. Do not engage in any disruptive or inappropriate behaviour that may detract from the event’s purpose.
  • Reporting Incidents: If you experience or witness any violations of this code of conduct, please promptly report it to event volunteers or organisers.
  • No Retaliation: Retaliation against anyone for reporting a violation of this code of conduct is strictly prohibited.

     

Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour

Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone engaging in such behaviour may be asked to leave the event at the discretion of the organisers.

 

How to Report an Incident

If you experience or witness a violation of this code of conduct, please do the following:

  1. Approach any event volunteers or organiser.
  2. Email info@bsidesexeter.co.uk with a description of the incident.
  3. Contact any of the event organisers directly if you feel more comfortable doing so.

     

Scope

This code of conduct applies to all BSides Exeter spaces, including the main event venue, social events, associated online platforms, and any other related activities.
